Backcare & Posture Improvement

Back pain due to prolonged amounts of time sitting in our cars or at our desks is a very common occurence in our modern society. The pain we experience is mostly due to poor posture, muscle tension, compressed spinal discs and lack of movement. Whilst it may not be possible to reduce the amount of time we spend in the office sitting at a desk due to work commitments, we can invest in one of a number of therapeutic products which ease pressure on the back and improve posture.

Ergomomic Chairs

A healthy spine should form a 'S' shape whilst sitting, but due to slouching and poorly designed chairs, many of us have very poor posture whhen sitting at a desk, with the spine being more of a 'C' shape. One way to overcome this is by using a kneeler chair, which encourages the spine to align correctly. This also takes a significant amount of pressure of the lower spine, thereby reducing back pain. Inversion Tables

Inversion tables are a safe and effective way to completely stretch the spine and muscles which surround it. Over the years, gravity and poor posture compress the spinal discs reducing the spongy spaces between the vertebrae, meaning that we can experience more discomfort and back pain due to the reduction in cushioning. Stretching out the spine by inverting or 'hanging partially upside down', is a fantastic way of relieving this pressure build up. For further information on the benefits of inversion tables see here.
