Antibiotics
If bacteria are found in your urine sample following a trip to the GP, you will be offered antibiotics to kill off the bacteria causing the irritation in the bladder and the symptoms of cystitis. Although these are often very effective, they can have side effects, such as thrush or digestive upset. However, some people find that if they have taken several courses over a relatively short period, that the infection keeps coming back. This is because the drug has killed off the good bacteria the helps protect your bladder from future infections too, leaving you more prone to re-infection if these 'good' bacteria are not replaced.
Natural D-Mannose
Natural D-Mannose is a simple sugar which is found in many plants but has been declining in our diet for the last several decades. When taking as a supplement, it is absorbed and quickly passed into the urine. Once in the urine, it's unique chemical structure, is known to attract and bind to E.Coli. Once the E.Coli is latched onto the D-Mannose circulating in the urine, it will leave the bladder next time the urine is passed. Therefore, there is no need to kill any bacteria, just a mechanism for the body to expel the bacteria and so get rid of the infection.
