Intus Healthcare successfully launched the SleepWeaver Advance Soft Cloth CPAP Mask at last week's British Sleep Society conference in Warwick. Intus are the sole UK distributors of this revolutionary mask, which has received critical acclaim in the USA, and early feedback suggests it could have a similarly big impact in the UK.
The SleepWeaver Advance, by Circadiance, is the first mask to be made of fabric, rather than plastic, silicone or gel, and it works by inflating like a balloon. The fabric adapts to the patient's facial shapes as it inflates with no pressure points, and at 35g it is the lightest mask available by some margin. The naturally adaptive design means that the one size will fit all but very large or small faces. Having been a critical and commercial success in the USA, Intus Healthcare are delighted to be bringing the SleepWeaver mask over to the UK.
Communications Manager Tom Parr said: “The SleepWeaver garnered a lot of attention at the BSS, and that is no surprise. It is very rare that a product with the potential to revolutionise CPAP therapy comes along, as is the case with the SleepWeaver. The reactions are usually surprise and disbelief that it can work, which is to be expected for a mask that is such a departure from the accepted design philosophies of CPAP masks. However, it really does work, as hundreds of testimonials from the USA prove, and the level of comfort is far above anything conventional masks can offer – even gel masks. We are truly excited about bringing this mask to the United Kingdom”.
The SleepWeaver Advance is now available to hospitals, clinics and private patients across the UK and Europe. It is available in beige, blue and pink, and one-size-fits-most. Samples have been sent to several clinics and hospitals, which are already generating an excellent level of positive feedback.
